Have you been in this world long enough to work for a business or buy something from a business, you are aware that just about all of them have one thing in common, and what they have in common is a MISSION STATEMENT.
A company’s mission statement helps businesses to stay aligned with the values and strive to stay focus on their quest to impact the world.
Many of the businesses around you are bland or they miss the mark to their stated goals, yet no matter what there surely must be a reason for which every business or an individual must have a MISSION statement.
One can take as long as one can of their time to write down a solid workable mission statement. But why do so few people take the time to even create their personal mission statement?
In this article, Nii Okanta Ankrah is going to give us reasons for which one has to create his or her personal Mission Statement.
In a man's quest to set and achieve his or her mission statements he or she must be willing to have the tool for making tough decisions. One can’t be successful if one does not learn to do this. Making tough decisions involves setting boundaries and limits on everything you do or gets done by you. Creating boundaries means you decide what you will and will not accept in your life, when something comes up that is outside those boundaries you don't even have a decision to make towards that for it is/was never part of the plan.
Is it good? What if I don’t or can't do it? Should I do it or not?
Living your life according to a mission statement is a more narrowly focused version of living your life according to principles.
And you would need to answer the following questions as they would guide you to know what your statement would look like.
- What is important or not; knowing what is important or what you value will lead you to know how your life is connected to those things.
- Where do I want to go from here; answering this may come from different angles. It may be spiritual growth, mental, or physical destination. There are times this statement's goals might describe your career arc.
- What does the best even look like to me?
- What is the Action/Execution plan?
- What is your statement going to be in the next 100 years, in other words, what is the legacy you wish to leave behind?
These statements must become part of who you are, who you are working to become, and part of your purpose in life.
If you become certain of what your mission statement is going to be write them down visit them daily.
Writing them down means it must be kept short, must include relatives as they will be surely needed to make the statement a success, share it with friends and those who you trust, and know that along the way you will surely make mistakes and it is good to make changes or amendments to what you’ve set out to achieve.
As you grow and continue learning your statement might evolve and grow beyond you, this is very natural. All you need is to learn to stay true to the mission and you can’t go wrong but to achieve or accomplish it successfully.
